The Rincon 12U Boys All Star Team competed on Saturday, December 7th at the Savannah United Finale. The Boys were able to overcome adversity and emerge victorious in their final game by a score of 3-1.

Coaches Jason Bledsoe and Martin Gonsales began this year’s soccer all-star season on November 9th with a group of boys who had very little experience playing soccer together. Despite their lack of experience the boys were able to win a local tournament on November 19th.  This past weekend the team was able to compete respectively against opponents from all over the southeast who have played together for years.

The Savannah United Finale this past weekend brought together some of the best competition in the area. Teams from Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and elsewhere traveled for the chance to improve their players’ skill set. “ We knew the competition would be Top Notch but it is all about the kids improving, if you want to be the best then play the best” said Coach Jason Bledsoe.

Several other area teams competed this past weekend and many of them found the competition to be very good. While some coaches put the emphasis on winning, most will agree that it is the effort of the players and their improvement that defines success.

Six time NBA champion Michael Jordan once said “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed”. Michael Jordan began his NBA career in 1984 took him until 1991 to win his first championship. He had to suffer defeat multiple times so that he could learn how to be a champion, which could serve as a good example for our young people to keep trying, and never give up!
