The Rincon all-star 8-and-under baseball team is headed to the GRPA state baseball tournament in Cordele from July 8-12. The Rincon team lost their first game last Thursday and battled through the losers’ bracket with three wins Friday against Effingham Red, Dublin-Laurens and Twin City.

Saturday, they played against the two-time reigning state champions and this year’s district host, Vidalia, with a deciding play at the plate for an 11-10 win. They followed that up with the championship game against the Effingham County Blue team. Rincon won the first game 11-2 and forced the if necessary game, where Effingham outlasted the Rincon boys 6-2.
Both teams will represent District 1 at the state tournament.
